Forget flashlights, bandages, or potable water: THIS is what you need for your emergency survival kit (preferably with a nice marinara sauce or maybe some cheese and a bit of toast for an impromptu emergency sandwich).
Disclaimer: Don't actually put these in an emergency kit unless you have an emergency heat source to cook them with. Also don't put them anyways because they'll spoil.
Adapted from a recipe on Yummly (apologies/credit to Stupid Easy Paleo), but with alternations due to my preference for chicken+pork over pork+beef (not as heavy):

Adapted from a recipe on Yummly (apologies/credit to Stupid Easy Paleo), but with alternations due to my preference for chicken+pork over pork+beef (not as heavy):
Ingredients (makes 10 meatballs)
- Ground Pork (1 lb)
- Ground Chicken (1 lb)
- Dried Parsley (2 tbsp)
- Paprika (2 tsp)
- Garlic Powder (1 tsp)
- Minced Onions (1 bulb) OR Onion Powder (1 tsp)
- Sea Salt (1 tsp)
- Black Pepper (3/4 tsp)
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a flat baking pan with aluminum foil for easy cleanup; nonstick spray not required due to fat in balls.
- Pour all ingredients in a bowl and then thoroughly mix to ensure meatball uniformity (avoid overmixing or meatballs will get tough).
- Using a 1/3 cup (or just a large spoon), scoop the mixture and then roll it into balls before placing onto the foil.
- Place balls on pan in oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until center of meatball is no longer pink.
Recommendations for Plating/Serving
- "Swedish" (aka IKEA) Meatball Sauce and Rice or Mash Potatoes (will put up sauce recipe later)
- Marinara Sauce, Spaghetti, and Cheese
- Meatball Sandwich (sliced in half, bit too large on their own) with Marinara Sauce and Cheese
Note: To thaw after cooking and freezing, reheat them in a broth or in water for a minute or so until they get soft and warm; avoid reheating them on their own or they'll dry out.
