I know several people are looking into the Gogcasts. Mailbag questions answered, RP how-to's, interviews and such. There are several avenues being explored.
Modly Mousebumples from NS offered a possible solution. This information comes from the Mentor subforum and is republished here with her permission.
I asked if I could pick her brain regarding how this platform works.
My reply
Mixlr does look like a useful medium, especially as it seems to utilize Skype.
For those unfamiliar with BTR: it, too, allows users to record a show. The format has changed since my college days. However it still has a number which callers can utilize in order to partake in the show. It also seems to have a soundboard feature that wasn't present before. The challenge to any endeavor will be the sound quality and disparity between phones, especially mobile phones if you have your mic settings too high.
I believe Swith's a Europeian. Can you look around there? Perhaps explain our need and ask if those running Europeia's program might mentor you? I know nothing about the region nor about their podcasts. If our area of interest would be useful to them (a program about RP how-tos? whatever), please kindly offer those services in exchange.
Who is tiger teaming this one, btw? Agy and Swith? Tilt as well?
Also, for purpose of transparency, I'm setting this particular board as open to the public and giving the link to Mouse.

General suggestion for D&D that might be more fun - depending on time zones and the like - is www.mixlr.com/
Obviously, it's "off-forum" but I could see some planning (and even "between get-together") posts on the forum in the interim, between live voice D&D rounds.
I don't want to promise such an "off-site" method would inherently be legal because I don't claim to be an RP mod, but if you're looking to promote D&D this summer, that might be an avenue to explore?

Sure. Do you have specific questions?
Basically, how we usually run it is that the person who's "broadcasting" starts a Skype Call (audio) with another player. Discord (audio calls) have also worked. It takes some practice to work with the broadcasting app and get how everything works, but they have a pretty good walkthrough on the site itself, under support. (I know I had to change some of my Skype settings to not have an echo, when I host.)
If you don't have a paid account, you're limited to just under an hour on consecutive broadcast time. However, you can go "off-air" and start a new broadcast in a matter of minutes. Not that someone in a group can't pay for the Mixlr upgrade; however, if someone is keeping an eye on the time, it's usually manageable to plan a break a few minutes before things will be cut off.
You can also play audio files from your computer (and I think Youtube? Although I've never played around with that end of things), but that may be less necessary for a game of D&D, unless the "broadcaster" wants to insert some sound effects or whatever.
If you've got more questions, you can post them here or via TG, but I think it could be another fun dimension to add to some of the RP stuff we've got going on here.

May I republish the text in your post on our Gog OSF staff thread? We have a team looking into podcasts for our Mailbag questions. They've thrown around ideas regarding Skype and Blog Talk Radio. Great ideas for shows. No idea of where to start.

Sure. Europeia, in generally, has a pretty robust radio channel, if anyone has other contacts there that they'd want to touch base with.
